Frankfurt isn't only a business hub but also an excellent destination for international students looking to further their education at University and other higher education. There're 3 educational institutes in particular that are great for international students, so let’s take a look at them, their ranking and their English language curriculum.

Goethe University Frankfurt

The Goethe University in Frankfurt is the city’s most famous educational institute. Founded all the way back in 1914, it was named after the famous poet and writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1932. Its alumni include 20 Nobel Prize winners (the most recent one back in 2007) and 18 Leibniz prizes for academic excellence winners, so its heritage is nothing to scoff at! The university spans 16 faculties, from Law and business to theology and linguistics to the various natural and computer sciences. The university has 4 campuses across Frankfurt, with the one in Westend housing its headquarters and the largest number of faculties. The university is home to around 45,000 students a year, 14% of which are international students.

Frankfurt School of Finance & Management

The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management was founded as the Bank school, all the way back in 1967. It started out as a training ground for, surprise, bank employees. These days it’s an actual university, gaining the right to award doctoral degrees in 2004. Alongside traditional disciplines such as accounting, management and finance, this Frankfurt management school also offers courses in renewable energy, AI and blockchain technology. Their alumni include the former CEO’s of major banks like Barclays and Deutsche bank, so it’s no surprise that this is regarded as one of the best business schools in Germany.

The HMKW University of Applied Sciences for Media, Communication and Management is a relatively new school, founded in 2008. The school places a relatively large emphasis on work experience and practical experience to prepare graduates for real work environments through projects for companies. The school has 5 departments, Design, Journalism and Communication, Psychology, Management and Business Studies and Humanities. The groups for MA courses are small, with around 20-30 students per programme. This makes the application process a little more hectic, but once you’ve secured your spot, personal interaction with professors and instructors is guaranteed!
